"Spirit of the Bush" Conference

The naming of the 2008 Conference was inspired by Lee Kernaghan's "Spirit of the Bush" song and what it represents. Lee is a patron of the Aussie Helpers charity that is assisting drought affected farming families across Australia. For more information on this worthwhile charity see their website at www.aussiehelpers.org.au. This year we are helping Aussie Helpers by accepting any donations of toiletries to enable theim to provide pamper packs to the farmers wives as described on their website. Maybe a card with some words of encouragement may help too.
Well another conference is over but certainly not forgotten. This years Spirit of the Bush Conference held at Radcliffe's Function Centre was another weekend packed with great classes, great friends, great food and generally a great time had by all. We welcomed Kerry Howell from Aussie Helpers at our Saturday Night Dinner and presented her with the pamper packs donated by our True Bue Members. Our inaugural "Make a Wish come True Blue" scholarship prize was awarded to Marita Brady and the raffle was drawn and prizes were accepted by some very happy winners. Our fancy dress theme was Spirit of the Bush and sure brought out some characters including Dolly Parton, Red back spider, a cocky, a milkmaid and her partner in crime. The Prairie Oysters played up a storm and had everyone on the floor strutting their stuff. The Charimans Plate Prize winners were also awarded and was another showcase of the amazing talent of our members.
Thanks must go to Karin Parson and Karen Brouwer for organising another fantastic conference and thanks also go to Radcliffes Function Centre who could not have been better hosts.

Our theme for next year is "I love a Sunburnt Country" with the theme for the Saturday Night Dinner being a Beach Party so get your thinking caps on and start planning for next years conference. Love to see you there!
